We belong here with the great Tetons

Well we made our way, up to the treeline
when the cloud fell down and covered us in white.
And the world below, was like a rolling sea.
So we watched from the tallest peak.
And we were singing:
oo-oo-ooh if you’ll be mine.
Then oo-oo-ooh we will climb.
Cause we belong here with the Great Tetons.

-“As We Ran” by the National Parks

Historians may debate the origin of the name Grand Tetons, but the most commonly accepted explanation is Grand Teton meaning “Large Teat” in French. There is no dispute about the Tetons being grand. The Teets, as we call them, is a spectacular mountain range about four hours away from the ranch. Despite being a bit of a drive, it is a beautiful ride through Yellowstone National Park nearly the entire way, and was always well worth the trip. Of everywhere I have been on this planet, the most grand spectacle of all may just be the Grand Tetons.

They come rising violently out of a perfectly flat valley seemingly out of nowhere. Grand Teton is the most remarkable of all, reaching 13,775 feet into the sky. The Teton Range is the youngest mountain range in the Rocky Mountains, and despite the close proximity to Yellowstone is worthy of its own National Park. Some of the most jaw dropping views imaginable are witnessed in and around the Tetons. It quickly became my favorite mountain range, and every chance I could get I made sure to visit. These are just some photos that attempt to capture the stunning beauty of the Teets:

Since we were at the Wedding Tree.. of course we had to stage a fake wedding! All the credit to the professional photographer Ricky Harvey who happened to be there the same time as us. His photos are amazing of this region!

What happens when you leave bear spray in your car while hiking on a hot day.. Shattered windshield, bear spray everywhere, and the most miserable 5 hour ride home imaginable.
